Dark Harmony by Laura Thalassa

The final installment of The Bargainer series, Dark Harmony continues to follow Callie and Des as they search for the Thief of Souls. This book deals with bullying, rape, death, thoughts of self harm and suicidal ideations, torture, slavery, violence, blood, kidnapping, grief, stalking, death of a parent, murder, and injury detail.
Callie followed Des to the Otherworld to help Des investigate the Thief of Souls and the solders that the Thief kidnapped and returned to their kingdoms in a coma, but with a new baby. Callie came out of the experience with scales and a new set of wings. The Thief of Souls, however, came away with an unhealthy obsession with Callie. Since then, he has not left Callie alone and things are finally come to a head when the Thief of Souls awakens the sleeping soldiers and sends them to take over the various kingdoms. It's time for Desmond and Callie to turn the tables and track the Thief of Souls so they can kill him and rid the Otherworld of his monstrous influence. And they'll have to deal with Galleghar too, who is not as dead as they thought he was.
This book continued the same as the others. The story came to a decent end, but I'm not particularly sad to see Des or Callie go. The series as a whole was very meh for me, there's nothing really great about it although there's nothing particularly bad about it either. It's edging on dark romance, but I would say it doesn't really get there. I do love Des, and I'm glad of the ending that he got.
I'm giving Dark Harmony by Laura Thalassa 3.50 out of 5. This is the spiciest book I've read in a bit, maybe a 3.25 spice level. I'd give the series as a whole a 3.75. There's nothing groundbreaking here and I won't visit it again. I probably won't read more from Laura Thalassa however, I may rethink that if she does a story centered on Temper.

Pairs well with a honey lozenge and a long swim in an infinity pool.
