Ruthless Vows is the final book in Rebecca Ross' Letters of Enchantment duology. Letters of Enchantment is their third duology, and I am very interested in checking out some of her prior works.
This book picks up shortly after Divine Rivals, the first novel in the duology. Iris is back in Oath with her brother, and she does not know where Roman is - he's been taken by Dacre and healed, which wipes away memories and conscripts the injured party to Dacre's cause. Shortly after arriving back in Oath, Iris and her correspondent friend Attie are asked to go back to the front to continue reporting. The longer the fighting goes on, the more depleted Enva's forces become and the larger Dacre's grow. Iris reconnects with Roman and the two of them start to wonder, is it possible for a mortal to kill a divine? And if so, just how would they go about it?
This book was delightful, a wonderful follow up to Divine Rivals, which I really loved. We get to reconnect with all of our favorite characters and are introduced to new ones. This book is fast moving, but not so fast that it was difficult to understand or follow. We get to see more of what made the first novel so lovely, the way that Roman and Iris write to each other, and see their relationship evolve it to something more. It is not quite as good as the first book in the series, but it is a very solid follow up that ties up all the loose ends and leaves you feeling happy and content.
I'm giving Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross 4.5 stars out of 5. There is no spice in this one, but there is a sweet love scene. I can't wait to read more by Rebecca Ross.

Pairs well with a ride in a fast car and a blueberry glazed scone.
