Hot Fudge Sundae

Ingredients

Sundae

  • Ice cream, flavor of your choice

  • Whipped cream

  • Sprinkles (optional)

  • Nuts (optional)

  • Cherries (optional)

Hot Fudge

  • 1 c. heavy cream

  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar

  • 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/4 tsp. salt

  • 6 oz. dark or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped

  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter

Directions

  1. Combine the whipping cream, sugar, salt, and butter in small pot over medium heat. Stir frequently until butter melts and starts to simmer.

  2. Simmer for just under a minute, then reduce to medium-low heat. Add in chopped chocolate and stir until melted.

  3. Remove from heat and whisk in cocoa powder.

  4. Return to heat, cooking for about 30 seconds or until smooth and glossy.

  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before using.

  6. Pour some fudge in the bottom of your serving dish, add ice cream, top with more hot fudge. Add any toppings desired, such as whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles, or a cherry.
